Dimitri has been at the center of the international cooperation on financial sector reforms since the global financial crisis. The work he led in revamping the IMF’s Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP) during 2009-2011 was a pillar of those reforms. In addition, he was part of the team that negotiated the IMF’s membership in the Financial Stability Board (FSB) in 2013, and represented the IMF in a number of FSB working groups and committees charged with monitoring the implementation of post-crisis financial sector reforms world-wide.
During 2019-20, Dimitri was Senior Adviser to the Saudi Presidency of the G20, providing strategic advice and assistance with the preparation and negotiations for the Riyadh G20 Summit. Based on this experience, he published an LSE blog on the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic by the G20.
His work as a Senior Fellow at the School of Public Policy at the LSE is partly focused on the international financial architecture. He has given a number of speeches on the subject and has been invited to lecture on the evolution of the international financial cooperation architecture in a number of universities, including at Yale, Vanderbilt, the William & Mary College, Oxford, and Bocconi University. He has also contributed to the book Bridging the Theory-Practice Divide in International Relations published in 2020 by Georgetown University Press.
